The City of Alpharetta is currently hiring a Public Works Technician I to support maintenance and construction of City property, streets, storm drains, and related infrastructure.

This position works under the supervision of a Public Works Crew Leader and involves operating tools, vehicles, and specialized equipment to maintain City facilities and public areas.

This is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Operate City trucks, trailers, tractors, and construction equipment
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Inspect vehicles and report maintenance needs
  • Respond to customer complaints
  • Respond to emergency situations and work overtime when required
  • Follow all safety procedures and traffic control regulations
  • Maintain logs and records of completed work
  • Build positive working relationships with coworkers and the public

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of maintenance or related experience preferred
  • Valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (100 lbs with assistance)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Full-Time
May require overtime and off-hour emergency response.
